We had a fantastic day at ‘Susan’s Farm’ in Houghton!
First, we had to get on the bus and travel to Carlisle. It was quite a long way!
When we got to the farm, we met Ruth and the hens.
Next, we met some of the sheep that live on the farm.
After that, Ruth took us around the farm to see where the vegetables grew and we got to pick apples that had fallen off the trees in the orchard.
Look at all the apples we collected!
Before we could use all the fruit and vegetable that we had gathered to make some tasty food, Ruth showed us how to wash our hands properly so that we got all of the germs off our fingers. We didn’t want to be poorly for our half term holidays.
Here we are preparing cottage pie and apple crumble for our lunch using all fresh produce from the farm.
While our yummy lunch was cooking, Ruth asked us to go feed the hens and check the sheep in the field.
By the time we got back inside, our cottage pie and apple crumble were ready to eat.
Our meal was delicious!
