Pupil Premium Allocations

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. It was first introduced in April 2011. Since then the amount schools and academies receive has increased. Schools and academies will receive funding based on the number of pupils who have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years.

What is Pupil Premium Plus (PP+)?

PP+ is additional educational funding given to schools or virtual schools for children who are ‘looked after’ or in care, plus those children previously looked-after.

Funding Allocations 2023-2024

  • £1,455 for each eligible primary aged pupil (pupil premium funding)
  • £2,530 for each Looked After Child or post Looked After Child (pupil Premium plus funding)

Recovery Grants for Schools

A Pupil Premium Recovery Grant is part of the government’s package of funding to support pupils whose education has been impacted by COVID-19. Schools receive additional funding throughout the year which are added to the allocations.
