Year 1

Good morning! 🌈 18.5.2020

I hope everyone is doing well and having lots of fun at home.

If you want to, you can always spend this week completing some Gruffalo activities if you haven’t already, rather than starting something new. This was planned in week 5 and 6. If you want to complete something different, read on for some rainbow fun!

For our last week before half term I have planned some activities around the theme of rainbows! These activities can be completed any time over the next two weeks and they are optional, so you can pick and choose which you would like to do. Maths is focused around position and direction and there are 4 sessions in total. Topic planning includes some PE, science, art and music. The literacy/reading planning includes reading activities, performing a poem and writing your own poem. Handwriting and phonics will be included with the skills being covered in literacy. Therefore there will be no phonics or handwriting planning uploaded this week.

If you are looking for some extra phonics then please read on for some other options. Over the last 7 weeks we have recapped each sound from Phase 5. If your child is struggling with any particular sound, then please recap this sound by following the structure of the phonic sessions we have been completing over the last few weeks. Revisit, teach, practise and then apply. There are some examples of activities in the planning from previous weeks. If you want something different, head over to the BBC website – here are two lessons, the first is about using phonics to develop vocabulary about exploring, found here https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zmpm6v4 The other lesson is using phonic skills for writing, found here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zdfr92p

All topic/literacy work mentioned is in a folder called Rainbow - Week 7 on the Remote Learning tab, maths is in its usual folder.

Have a great week,

Miss Wood 😊

Hello Year 1 and another happy Monday to you all! (11.5.2020)

I just want to say another massive thank you to parents and children, for your continued support with online learning. This week we are going to continue our mini-project based on The Gruffalo. In the classwork section, you will find part 2 of the project and this will include; literacy, PE, science, art and design technology activities. Again, there are a number of sessions which you can pick and choose from, so please have a read through and see which ones your little one may want to do.

Maths will be set from today and there are 4 sessions in total, some sessions may take longer than others. BBC bitesize daily maths sessions will support the maths we are covering and this is another option if you are wanting extra activities to complete. Phonic sessions and handwriting guidance will be uploaded onto the classwork section. Phonics is set out very similar to last week to keep the structure simple and consistent.

To those that may have joined our online classroom a little later, please start work from the most recent week. You do not have to complete everything I have set in the past in the classwork section as this will be a mammoth task.

Missing you all, have fun and stay safe!

Hello Year 1 and a happy Monday to you all!

I just want to say another massive thank you to parents and children, for your continued support with online learning. Again, there are a number of sessions which you can pick and choose from, so please have a read through and see which ones your little one may want to do. There is also the option of a 27 min movie link included from the BBC (an ideal activity for parents to have a cup of tea!). Throughout the week, I'm going to test out my baking skills and create some Gruffalo inspired treats! Have you got any ideas of things you could make? Next week I will set part 2 of the project and this will include our science, literacy and DT sessions.

Maths will be set from today and there are 4 sessions in total, some sessions may take longer than others, therefore there is only 4 sessions. BBC bitesize daily maths sessions will support the maths we are covering and this is another option if you are wanting extra activities to complete.
